Update re Hele Valley Trail and Crowdfunding Campaign

Marhamchurch Parish Council (MPC) is working to secure funds to purchase The Hele Valley Trail comprising of 16.24 acres of riverside native heritage woodland and well-established broadleaved woodland, car park and trail. MPC wants to secure funds to buy the Hele Valley Trail and bring it into public ownership to guarantee unrestricted public access in perpetuity with all the associated physical and mental health benefits currently being enjoyed by many.

The Parish Council have received an offer (subject to T&Cs) from The Community Ownership Fund, Ministry of Housing, Communities & Local Government of £152,000 which is 80% of the sale price. Part of the terms of the grant, is that MPC must match fund the remaining 20% which is £38,000.

The Parish Council have submitted an application to the Heritage Lottery Fund in the hope of securing additional funds to meet the target. We hope to hear back in early May whether this has been successful.

The Parish Council were disappointed to hear that Cornwall Council's Community Levelling Up Program identified our project as 'low priority'.

Marhamchurch Parish Council have recently launched a crowdfunding campaign to support it is aim to secure funds to purchase The Hele Valley Trail. 

The Parish Council will be reviewing the financial viability of the project in early September. If you can support the project, please ensure funds are donated before then.
