Cornwall Council is currently undertaking a public consultation as part of a Community Governance Review for the whole of Cornwall, to ensure community governance arrangements at parish level reflect the identity and interest of your local communities and work as conveniently and effectively as possible. APPOINTMENT TO CORNWALL COUNCIL’S STANDARDS COMMITTEE
Do you believe in the importance of high standards of conduct in local councils? If so, you may be interested in joining Cornwall Council’s Standards Committee to help maintain and promote such standards. The Standards Committee is looking to recruit to its membership 2 x Independent (Lay) Members. To be eligible you cannot have been, in the last five years, an elected member or officer of Cornwall Council or of a Town and Parish Council in Cornwall. Further details on the work of the Standards Committee can be found at: https://www.cornwall.gov.uk/council-and-democracy/councillors-and-democracy/standards-committee-information A previous experience of an ethical standards regime, whilst not essential, is an advantage although training will be given. This is a voluntary role, but a small allowance may be payable and there will be travelling and subsistence expenses.
